The sketch is a portrait of the poet, essayist and literary critic Michał Fostowicz, for whom the poetic and philosophical thought of William Blake was a very important source of inspiration. The author, analyzing Fostowicz’s most important essays and reviews, tries to determine his method of interpreting literary works and reconstruct the system of values and criteria for choosing what – in Fostowicz’s opinion – is most sought after and valuable in literature. The aim of the sketch was to restore the message and significance of Fostowicz’s achievements for contemporary humanistic thought.
